Body Worlds Vital is an incredible exhibition of real human bodies plastinated to display the mechanics and systems. It may seem macabre at first, but the displays are presented in a creative and informative way – guaranteed to blow your mind.
The most fascinating displays to me were the structure of muscles (in both striking form and deteriorating posture), the presentation of our remarkable organs, and seeing how the nerves extend down the spinal column and branch off. The comparison of healthy vs unhealthy/irregular organs was very interesting to see in reality rather than a photo or diagram.
Many people I know in the fitness and medical industry have been geeking out over this impressive display, but I can highly recommend it to anyone who simply wants to see how the extraordinary human body functions. Hey, we’ve all got one! And you may walk away with renewed admiration and appreciation.
The exhibition is on at the Hilton Wharf, Auckland, until 13 July.
